Florence County Medical Society (FCMS)

We are a volunteer organization building relationships, promoting the practice of medicine, and protecting the health interests of the Florence community.  Each year, a few members serve as officers to coordinate four main events.  The first event, or “new physician welcome,” welcomes regional physicians regardless of membership status, usually in late September.  The three other events are the holiday party in December, annual legislative update in January, and a continuing medical education event in March or April.  Our events could not happen without the support of the Alliance and its officers. We also join together with other county medical societies and specialty societies to strengthen the South Carolina Medical Association (SCMA), which is the voice of healthcare in our state. The SCMA provides numerous leadership opportunities for physicians, residents, and medical students.  Each year we send delegates and alternate delegates to the annual meeting, usually the last weekend in April.  Click here for more information on SCMA, which has a mission and vision “To serve and support the physicians of South Carolina” and “to improve the health of South Carolina.”
